Here’s Bruce in his own words:
Baugh backs ‘Colonel Pete’
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
The Stiglich campaign claims another local endorsement in the Republican primary — Shasta County Supervisor Les Baugh:
“I am pleased to announce my support of Colonel Pete in his run for Congress. He has the integrity, leadership skills and good common sense so desperately needed in Washington today. Colonel Pete placed his country first for 26 years while serving in the US Armed Forces. I know he will continue to put his country first if given the honor to serve as our Congressman.”
— UPDATE —
I asked Baugh why he like Stiglich — and why he was dissatisfied with Herger. The main answer could be boiled down to one word: TANC.
As Baugh sees it, Herger’s office avoided him, didn’t answer his or others’ inquiries except with form letters, and basically waffled on the issue until the Sacramento Municipal Utility District pulled out of the project. Then, once it was already dead, Herger came out against it.
Meanwhile, he says Stiglich is an honest and community-minded guy whom he knows from working on the Cottonwood Community Park and trying to restore the neglected and overgrown Reading Island park.
