Congressional Candidate Colonel Pete Stiglich Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge
“Not a Single Penny More Added to our National Debt!”
Redding, Calif – Congressional candidate Colonel Pete Stiglich (Colonel Pete) announced today he has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform. Colonel Pete, a life-long conservative republican, is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in California’s 2nd Congressional District.
“I am adamantly opposed to tax increases of any kind and will fight hard to stop them dead in their tracks, said Stiglich. It’s not a question of not being taxed enough, but rather a matter of spending more than we can afford. It’s that simple.”
Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) was formed in 1985 at the request of President Ronald Reagan. The flagship project of ATR is the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written promise by legislators and candidates for office that commits them to oppose any effort to increase income taxes on individuals and businesses.
According to ATR’s official webpage, ATR believes in a system in which taxes are simpler, flatter, more visible, and lower than they are today. The government’s power to control one’s life derives from its power to tax. We believe that power should be minimized.
According to Colonel Pete, “The real solution is for our government to immediately stop the out-of-control spending spree it’s been on under both republican and democrat administrations. Not a single penny more added to our national debt!”
Further, Colonel Pete says, “No more TARP bail-outs. No more Cash for Clunkers. No more stimulus packages. No more unfunded entitlements like Medicare Part D Prescription Drugs. It’s simply unconscionable that we have the audacity to saddle future generations with mountains of our debt.”
A former school teacher and 26 year Air Force veteran, Colonel Pete resides at his ranch in Cottonwood, CA. He is an active supporter of his community and works on behalf of all U.S. veterans.
