California's 2nd Congressional District contains much of the far northern portion of the state of California, north of Sacramento. It is the largest district by area in the state. The district covers all of Colusa, Glenn, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity and Yuba Counties, as well as parts of Butte and Yolo Counties.
George W. Bush won the district in 2004 with 62% of the vote. John McCain carried the district in 2008 with 56.10% of the vote. Barack Obama received 41.43%.
